This premium townhouse development sits on a hilltop in Kiama, offering sweeping ocean views and high-end coastal living.
Each of the three-level homes was designed with quality, accessibility, and architectural presence in mind. A residential lift was incorporated into the centre of the home, rising through the main stairwell and becoming a feature element of the interior design.
Because of its prominent position within the home, the lift needed to match the architectural quality and finishes of the surrounding space.
We worked closely with the developer over several years as the project progressed from planning through to construction.
During the early stages of the development we:
• Provided technical information to support the development application (DA)
• Assisted with planning the lift space within the architectural layout
• Designed a lift solution that would integrate cleanly within the central stairwell
• Ensured the lift complemented the high-end finishes of the home
By collaborating early in the design process, the lift became a central architectural element rather than an afterthought.
The development site presented several logistical challenges.
The homes were built on a deep, narrow block on a hillside, which made access to the site more complex during installation.
In addition, because the lift was positioned in the centre of the stairwell, it needed to be installed with a high level of precision to ensure the final result looked clean, balanced, and architecturally integrated.
The finished lifts rise through the centre of each home, providing easy access between levels while complementing the open stairwell design.
Rather than being hidden away, the lifts act as a design feature, reinforcing the sense of quality and modern living throughout the homes.
This project reflects the value of early collaboration between developer and lift specialist.
