We recently completed a home lift installation in Woonona that gave a homeowner what they needed most — a safe, independent way to move between levels of their existing home. When the internal layout ruled out a traditional lift shaft, our team designed an external solution using the Barduva SB200 platform lift, keeping the project practical and the client’s daily life uninterrupted.

Services Delivered: Lift consultation, Barduva SB200 external platform lift supply, delivery, installation and commissioning
Timeline: 4 months from first enquiry to handover (5-day on-site installation)
We started with an on-site consultation to assess the home’s layout, structural conditions, and available space. It became clear early on that fitting a lift inside the house wasn’t feasible — there simply wasn’t room for an internal shaft without major structural changes.
Instead, we proposed an external platform lift — the Barduva SB200 — which could be positioned outside the home and still provide direct access to both levels. After walking the client through our home lifts range and confirming the SB200 as the best fit, we moved into the structural planning phase.
We worked closely with Kiama Building Services to develop a structural support design that would carry the lift and its passengers safely. Once the design was confirmed, the lift was ordered from the manufacturer and air freighted to our warehouse to keep the project timeline as short as possible.
On-site installation was completed in five days, from first anchor bolt to a fully operational handover.
The main challenge was straightforward: the home’s existing floor plan left no room for an internal lift installation. In a new build, a shaft can be designed into the plans from the start. In an established home like this, that option doesn’t exist without significant demolition and rebuilding.
Our solution was to move the lift outside the home entirely. The Barduva SB200’s compact external footprint made this viable, and our collaboration with Kiama Building Services ensured the supporting structure met all engineering and safety requirements without altering the home’s existing layout.

The finished installation delivers exactly what the client needed: quiet, reliable, push-button access between both levels of their home. The Barduva SB200 sits externally, connected to the house at each floor level, and operates without disrupting the home’s internal living spaces.
Key specifications of this installation:
From first enquiry to handover, the project ran to four months — a timeline that reflects the air freight decision, which cut weeks off what a standard sea freight delivery would have taken. The client now has safe, independent access to every level of their home without needing to consider moving.
Builder collaboration — our close working relationship with Kiama Building Services meant the structural design was resolved efficiently, without back-and-forth delays
Speed of delivery — coordinating with the manufacturer to air freight the Barduva SB200 kept the total project timeline to four months while maintaining full product and installation quality.
