We ensure longevity and optimal performance

We recently completed a lift installation in Nowra that gave a private shed owner something most large sheds lack — convenient, safe access to a mezzanine-level office. An extra large Ascenda lift with automatic saloon doors on both levels now connects the ground floor to the workspace above, and the entire installation took just 11 days.

Project Snapshot

Location: Nowra, NSW

Services Delivered: Lift consultation, Ascenda extra large lift supply and installation with automatic saloon doors

Timeline: 4 months from first enquiry to handover (11-day on-site installation)

The Objective

Our client owned a large privately built shed in Nowra with a mezzanine level used as an office area. Climbing stairs to reach it every day was becoming impractical, and they needed a permanent, reliable way to move between floors. The brief was straightforward: install a lift that could handle the shed’s dimensions and provide smooth, independent access to the upstairs workspace.

Our Approach

We started with an on-site visit to assess the shed’s layout, ceiling height, and structural conditions. From there, we walked the client through the options best suited to the space and shortlisted two models that could handle the extra large footprint required.

The client then visited our design studio to see both options first-hand. After comparing form, function, and door configurations side by side, they chose the Ascenda extra large — a Kalea-manufactured screw-driven lift with automatic saloon doors fitted to both levels. The dual-door configuration meant the lift could be entered and exited from either side, which suited the shed’s floor plan perfectly.

Once the order was confirmed, the lift was manufactured at Kalea’s facility in China and shipped to our warehouse within three months. During that lead time, we coordinated with the client’s builder to complete all preparation work — shaft framing, electrical supply, and floor reinforcement — so the site was ready the moment the lift arrived.

Installation commenced on delivery and was completed in 11 days, from first anchor bolt to a fully tested, operational handover.

The Challenges

The Challenges
The Ascenda lift does not use a fully enclosed shaft. While this keeps the design open and minimises the structural work needed inside the shed, it introduced a safety consideration at the mezzanine level: anyone walking near the shaft opening on the upper floor needed to be protected.

We worked closely with the client’s builder to design and install a purpose-built door at the top-level entry point. This ensured full compliance with safety requirements while keeping the aesthetic clean and the access straightforward.

The Solution

The finished installation gives the client exactly what they asked for: quiet, reliable, push-button access between the ground floor and mezzanine office. The Ascenda extra large provides a generous cabin size — important for carrying office equipment, supplies, or mobility aids — and the automatic saloon doors open and close without manual effort.

Key specifications of this installation:

  • Lift model: Kalea Ascenda — extra large platform
  • Door type: Automatic saloon doors on both levels
  • Drive system: Screw-driven (low power, low maintenance)
  • Levels served: 2 (ground floor to mezzanine)
  • Installation time: 11 days on site

The Result

From first enquiry to handover, the entire project ran to four months — a timeline our team is proud of given the international manufacturing lead time and the coordination required with the builder. The lift now operates daily, giving our client independent, step-free access to their office without altering the shed’s existing structure or footprint.

What We're Most Proud Of

  • Speed of delivery — four months from first phone call to a working lift, including international manufacturing and shipping
  • Builder collaboration — our team and the client’s builder worked in lockstep to keep prep work on schedule and resolve the top-level safety door without delays
